CozZo Is Gone: How to Migrate Your Pantry Data
If you used CozZo to track your pantry, you already know: it's gone. The app was removed from both app stores in 2025, and the servers are no longer running. For users who relied on it, that meant losing their entire inventory history overnight.
This guide covers how to move to Visual Inventory and rebuild your tracking without starting completely from scratch.
What CozZo Did Well
CozZo was popular for a reason. It had solid barcode scanning, a clean interface, and basic expiration tracking. If you liked CozZo, you were doing the right thing — tracking your food to reduce waste. The tool is gone, but the habit is valuable.
Option 1: Fresh Start with AI Scanning
To rebuild a pantry record, photograph one shelf and review the draft before moving to the next. Processing and review time vary; we do not publish a guaranteed whole-pantry setup time.
Steps:
- •Sign up at visualinventory.ai (free, no credit card)
- •Tap the scan button on your dashboard
- •Photograph each shelf, one at a time
- •Review the AI results — confirm, edit, or reject items
- •Add expiration dates for items where visible
Give each shelf a clear view, then compare the draft with the actual shelf. Accuracy across cluttered household conditions is not broadly measured; expect corrections.
Option 2: CSV Import
Keep any CSV or spreadsheet export as your original record. Visual Inventory does not currently import arbitrary spreadsheet columns or CozZo exports. Rebuild a reviewed pantry with shelf photos or manual entry, checking the original as you go.
The scan review is a candidate review, not a CSV column-mapping tool. Do not discard your previous export until you have checked the record you saved.
What's Different from CozZo
Visual Inventory isn't a CozZo clone — it's built differently. Here's what you'll notice:
- •AI photo scanning — photograph shelves instead of scanning barcodes one by one
- •Recipe suggestions — when items are expiring, get recipe ideas that use them up
- •Family sharing — up to 5 household members on the Family plan
- •Shopping lists — keep a shared list and review proposed additions from your recorded pantry
- •Optional supply planning — compare recorded stock with chosen targets; no seasonal or behavioral prediction
- •Voice input — review a spoken draft before saving it to your pantry
What CozZo Had That We Don't
Being honest: CozZo had a few things we don't replicate exactly. Their barcode database was extensive for European products. Our barcode scanning works but is stronger on North American UPCs. CozZo also had a very minimal, focused interface — just barcode scanning and expiration tracking. Visual Inventory does more, which means slightly more complexity.
